Description  Abstract: The quality of a nation has a vertical relationship to the level of literacy. Reading fondness affects the way of thinking, acting and behaving someone. At present, Indonesia is among the lowest countries in the ranking of reading interest in the world. There are many factors that cause low Indonesian literacy. This problem must immediately get the attention of the librarian as a professional provider / information manager. When the Indonesian people have become literate civilized societies, it is not impossible that this nation will advance to develop and color the world civilization.Keywords :. Librarian, Literacy, Library, ReadingAbstrak : Kualitas  suatu  bangsa  memiliki  hubungan  vertikal  terhadap tingkat literasi. Kegemaran membaca berpengaruh kepada cara berfikir, bertindak dan berprilaku seseorang. Saat ini, Indonesia termasuk negara terendah  dalam  peringkat minat baca di dunia.  Ada  banyak  faktor penyebab literasi masyarakat Indonesia rendah. Permasalahan ini harus segera mendapatkan perhatian pustakawan sebagai            sebuah profesi penyedia/pengelola informasi. Ketika masyarakat Indonesia telah menjadi masyarakat berbudaya literasi, maka tidak mustahil bangsa ini menjadi maju berkembang dan mewarnai peradaban dunia.Kata kunci :.
